Sure, you will have a great time when you come to Stuttgart for one of the matches or supporting your team. But do you know what to drink and eat to get your energy back? No?
Well, don’t hesitate to try one or more of the „culinary“ Swabian power-food below. Maybe at the small Wine Village on Schillerplatz or in one of the Biergarten downtown.
When in Stuttgart eat like the Stuttgarts do. 😉
Meals:
- Spätzle (special kind of home-made pasta)
- Linsen und Spätzle (lentils, Spätzle and a pair of wieners)
- Maultaschen (Swabian pockets, pasta squares filled with meat and spinach, either „in der Brühe“ (broth) or geschmälzt (fried in butter))
- Zwiebelrostbraten (roast with lots of onions)
- Schwäbischer Kartoffelsalat (potato salad with vinegar, oil and broth, sometimes warm)
- Wurstsalat (sausage salad with onions and vinegar and oil)
- Brezels
Drinks:
- Viertle (a quarter of litre wine, just add the sort or name of the wine like „Ein Viertle Trollinger“)
- Trollinger or Lemberger (red wines of the region)
- Riesling or Kerner (white wines)
- Rotweinschorle (red wine spritzer) or Weißweinschorle (white wine spritzer)
- Most (must or cider, usually made of apples, very refreshing)
- Apfelsaftschorle (apple juice spritzer, no alcohol)
- Radler (shandy, mix of beer and lemonade)
- Hefeweizen (beer brewed with wheat, either „hell“ (blond) or „dunkel“ (dark))
- Bier (there are some breweries in Stuttgart and thus a variety of beers, so just try them)
